COVID-19 Funeral Service Update:

Austin Layne Mortuary remains committed and prepared to safely care for the families we serve during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Whenever possible, Austin Layne Mortuary, will continue to enable families to participate in the customs and rituals that are most important to them.

Austin Layne Mortuary regularly receives information updates via NFDA from the CDC, Department of Health and Human Services, and other agencies about the evolution of COVID-19 in the United States.

According to the CDC, at this time, there are no known risks associated with being in the same room during a funeral or visitation service with the remains of someone who has died from a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19. Depending on a family’s preferences, their loved one can be safely embalmed. Families may choose either burial or cremation as a service option.

At Austin Layne Mortuary we recognize that it is our responsibility to protect the health of those we are privileged to serve and will continue to guide families, as we always have, in ways they will meaningfully and safely commemorate the life of their loved one, at the same time adhering to the guidance issued by federal, state and local public health officials.

We recognize the importance of visitation, funeral and memorial services and have options available to help facilitate those needs.

Our staff remains vigilant about the cleanliness of our facilities and strictly adhere to all recommended healthy habits, such as making sure employees remain at home when sick, appropriately washing our hands, and the covering of our mouths and nose during coughs and sneezes. The CDC and our local public health officials have offered a great deal of guidance for businesses such as ours on this topic, and we will continue to vigorously follow their advice, counsel and lead.
